A mindful mat based Pilates class, perfect for beginners and those suffering with back pain, or anyone looking to release stress and connect to their body without exertion.
Síofra blends aspects of mindfulness and somatic release with Pilates exercises, designed to relieve chronic pain and gently build physical stability in the shoulders, core, hips and pelvis to support the optimum movement of the spine.
The class begins with gentle connection to the body through breath-work and visualisation, before moving through slow somatic exercises to release habitual tension in the muscles and nervous system, which aids in reducing pain and building a stronger brain and body connection before adding in stronger Pilates movement. The Pilates basic principles will be introduced before you are guided through Pilates exercises designed to bring support and mobility to the spine.
The class finishes with a mindful stretch leaving you feeling calm, centred and invigorated for the day ahead.
